This picture is when we took a class field trip to Kakaako for Pow Wow Hawaii. The subject is my friend Aimee. It is one of my best photographs because of the memories of that day and the joyful expression on her face makes the whole picture light up and portray a feeling of nostalgia. I like taking portraits of people because you can characterize their personality so well in just one photograph. 


Fast Shutter Photos is also a favorite of mine to shoot. Freezing action always interests me in a way other styles of photography can't. It's always cool to see a ball being kicked, a water balloon being smashed onto someone, or just candid shots of personalities. This photo was taken at a beach lookout on the rocks. The surf was really high and it was a good opportunity to practice my fast shutter setting camera skills. During my years taking photography I've gotten better at fast shutter and am confident in my improvement. 

Something that falls in the category of the first picture shown along with single subject portraits is group portraits. I always loved taking pictures of people because of the story that's always behind it. This picture was taken at homecoming just before the parade. Their face paint and charismatic smiles make the photo more exciting and resembles the spirit they have for their class. It keeps the viewer guessing whats going on behind the camera as well as in front.

Water Play Day

Water play day is my favorite photography assignment that we do as a class because it combines my two favorite things, Fast Shutter Speeds and Playing in the water in 90 degree weather. This would be my third time participating in the water play day. When I was in photography 2 I was the model getting drenched in colored water, this time I was the photographer and the one throwing the water onto people. I got to pass 2nd period just to participate in another classes water play day and it was so amazing seeing all the creative ideas from each of the classes. If I could choose being the model or  photographer I would choose the model because they have the most fun getting all soaking wet plus they have a bunch of people taking cool pictures of them. Down below are some of my favorites that I shot from water play day 2018.

    For this "Wierd Day" in class, I ended up in the back parking lot of the school on the hill. I did not follow the instructions of "throwing the disc and seeing where it ended up" that well because I wanted to look for something bright to match the iridescent tone of the disc. So I found the colorful bougainvillea trees. I actually like taking photos of lower vantage points because, for one, I get to sit and for two, the most interesting picture is of things you don't see every day.    The pink pictures were taken in the back parking lot of the school on the hill going upwards. The white flower was located on the left side of the cafeteria in the little square dirt patches. I like how all these photos give off a "dazed" feeling with the slight blur of the CD in the background. I mostly used the CD as a background for the main subject, which was the flowers.
